This is greenLightScore's free product score calculator — it analyzes your product's margin, market demand, and competition to return a 0–100 greenLightScore in a few minutes, using live market data.
What this tool does, and who it is for
The free calculator is for dropshippers and small ecommerce sellers deciding whether a product is worth a paid test. You enter one product and its numbers, and it returns a single 0–100 greenLightScore with a verdict, so the decision to spend on ads is based on margin and market evidence rather than a gut feeling about a video that looked like it was selling well.
It is meant for the stage before a launch: you have a supplier price, an intended selling price, and a hunch. It is not a store analytics tool and it does not connect to your ad account.
How the free score works
The score is deterministic arithmetic, not a language model opinion. Six signals are calculated and added together: Net Profit Margin (30 points), Demand (20), Price Sweet Spot (20), Low Saturation (15), Wow Factor (10) and Shipping Economics (5). The same inputs and the same market data always produce the same score.
Demand and saturation are measured against live market data pulled at the moment you run the score — search results, and advertising activity on Meta and TikTok for the product category. That live lookup is why a score takes a few minutes rather than being instant, and why the same product can move slightly if you run it weeks apart.
Margin is a hard gate. If net profit margin after product cost, shipping and fees falls below 25%, the product is rejected regardless of how strong the other five signals are, because there is not enough room left to pay for customer acquisition. That 25% is a conservative screening threshold rather than a universal rule — real requirements vary by category, repeat-purchase behavior, refund rate, ad channel and average order value. Above that gate, the total score maps to a verdict: 80–100 is a strong go, 60–79 is watch, 40–59 is weak, and anything below 40 is a reject.
Nothing in the score is written by AI. AI is used only to draft the separate Creative Launch Brief — ad angles and hooks — which is not scored and does not affect the number.
What you enter and what you get back
You enter five things: the product name, your supplier cost per unit in USD, your intended selling price in USD, how strong the product's wow factor is on a 1–5 scale, and a shipping profile describing size and weight. No account, card or store connection is required to run it.
You get back the 0–100 greenLightScore and its verdict, a breakdown of how each of the six signals scored, a financial snapshot showing net margin and the minimum price you would need to clear the 25% margin floor, and three ready-to-run ad hooks. The financial snapshot and the hooks are unlocked with an email; the score and the signal breakdown are visible immediately.
As an illustration, the sample Yoga Mat report published elsewhere on this site scores 61/100 with a Watch verdict, a 57% net margin, and a $42.39 minimum price to hold the 25% floor. Your own result will differ — that figure is one real report, not a projection for your product.
