Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about scores, plans, billing, and how greenLightScore works.
What is the greenLightScore and how is it calculated?
The greenLightScore is a 0–100 verdict on whether a product is worth launching right now, built from six parameters: Net Profit Margin (30 points — straight math from your COGS, selling price and ad budget; under 25% is an automatic reject — a conservative screening threshold; actual requirements vary by category, repeat-purchase behavior, refund rate, ad channel and average order value), Demand signal (20 points — live data from Google search results and TikTok; Meta's ad library is deliberately excluded here so it isn't counted twice), Price sweet spot (20 points — how your price sits against the market), Low saturation (15 points — live Meta Ad Library data), Wow factor (10 points — your own rating), and Shipping economics (5 points — your shipping profile). Verdict bands: 80–100 Strong go, 60–79 Watch, 40–59 Weak, 0–39 Reject.
Does greenLightScore use live marketplace data?
Partly, yes. Your report is a hybrid of three things: (1) your own seller inputs — COGS, selling price, ad budget, shipping profile — which drive the Financial Snapshot as straight math, not a guess; (2) live data pulled at run time — Google search results and TikTok feed the Demand signal, while Meta's ad library feeds the saturation score only, so no single data source counts twice; and (3) AI analysis that turns those inputs into the creative brief and the written explanations. We don't pull AliExpress or Amazon sales figures, and we say so plainly. Pulling live data is why a report takes a few minutes rather than a few seconds.
How long does a report take?
Roughly one to three minutes, depending on how fast the data providers respond. That's deliberate: we're querying live search, Meta ad and TikTok data for your product before scoring it, rather than having the model guess from memory. A margin-failing product is the exception — that verdict is pure arithmetic and returns immediately.
Is the data live market data or AI-generated analysis?
Both. The Demand and saturation signals are built from live data collected when you run the report; the Financial Snapshot is deterministic math on your own numbers; and AI is used only to write the Creative Launch Brief — the ad hooks and offer angles — and plays no part in the score itself. Every signal comes with a one-sentence explanation — you'll see what's driving Demand, what's dragging down Net Profit Margin, and why saturation scored the way it did, so you're never just looking at a number with no reasoning behind it. Treat the output as a structured second opinion, not a guarantee — always do your own due diligence.
How is greenLightScore different from other product validation tools?
Most validation tools stop at a yes-or-no verdict. greenLightScore gives you the verdict AND what to do next: a full financial breakdown (margin, breakeven, suggested pricing) plus 3 ready-to-run ad hooks and 4 offer angles you can use immediately. You're not just finding out if a product might work — you're walking away with the creative assets to test it.
How is this different from researching manually?
greenLightScore returns a standardized 0–100 launch verdict in about one to three minutes — pulling live data as it goes — while manual research takes hours and leaves you with an unstructured judgment call. You can see the full comparison.
How accurate is the greenLightScore?
The score is a structured, reasoned estimate — not a guarantee. It's built to reduce guessing, not eliminate risk: no scoring tool, including this one, can predict a specific outcome with certainty. Treat a high score as a strong reason to look closer, not a promise of results. Always validate further before spending significantly on ads.
What information do I need to run a score?
The free score requires five inputs: product name, supplier cost, selling price, wow-factor rating and shipping profile. The complete report also asks for product category, selling platform and monthly ad budget. No existing store or live ad campaign is required to run your first score. Try it free — no signup required.
Is there a free version of greenLightScore?
Yes. Run a free product score with no signup and no card required — your full 0–100 score and verdict come back in a few minutes while we pull live data. Unlocking the Financial Snapshot and Creative Launch Brief (ad hooks + offer angles) is also free, just requires an email. Free use is limited to 1 report per connection.
Will this product be profitable at my price point?
The greenLightScore's Financial Snapshot calculates net margin — with your ad spend already deducted as ad load, not ignored — break-even sales per month, and the minimum price you'd need to charge to clear the 25% net-margin hard floor at your COGS and ad budget. It shows whether the unit economics can support paid traffic before you commit budget to a campaign.
Will this product actually find buyers?
Every greenLightScore includes a Demand signal and a Wow factor as two of the six scored parameters. The Demand signal is built from live search and social data collected when you run the report, while Wow factor captures how well the product can stop a scroll in short-form ads.
What do the Solo, Operator, and Agency plans cost?
Solo is $9/month ($90/year, 30 reports/month). Operator is $36.90/month ($369/year, 120 reports/month). Agency is $90/month ($900/year, 320 reports/month). Yearly billing saves roughly 17% versus paying monthly. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from the billing portal, and changes take effect from your next billing period. See full plan details on the pricing page.
Is PDF export available on every plan?
PDF export is included on Operator and Agency, not Solo. Solo is built for quick, in-app validation; Operator and Agency are for operators who need to share or archive reports with a team, supplier, or client.
How does Vault saving work, and what happens to reports I run before signing up?
Reports you run while signed in are saved to your Vault automatically and available across devices. Reports you run before creating an account are tied to your browser session; when you sign up, those anonymous reports are linked to your new account so nothing is lost. Anonymous use is limited to 1 free report per IP address.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Open the Billing page from the in-app menu. From there you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel — the change is handled through our payment provider's secure customer portal. Cancellations stay active until the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
Can I get a refund if it's not for me?
Refund/cancellation terms are covered in full in our Refund & Cancellation policy.
How is my data used? Do you sell it?
No. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers. Account data and reports are stored with row-level security so only you can access yours. Product inputs are sent to our AI provider strictly to generate your report. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Is dropshipping still worth it right now?
Viability depends on the specific product, not the business model as a whole. A per-product greenLightScore is far more useful than a blanket answer because it checks margin, demand, competition, and creative potential for the exact item you're considering. If you're unsure, try a free score and let the numbers guide the decision.
